Sydney's Jazz Scene: Soup Plus and more

February 17th 2008 11:45
Melbourners say Sydney has no culture. Where there are hideaway jazz clubs scattered around THEIR city, ours are just right on the footsteps among the city centre.

I believe they just don't know where to look

Sydney's Chinese New Year Celebrations

February 10th 2008 07:05
For two weeks now, the City of Sydney has been busy celebrating Chinese New Years which happened on 7th February (last Thursday). It's reportedly the biggest Chinese New Years celebration in a city outside Asia.

Today, the entire city's population swarmed into the city to watch the colourful Chinese New Years parade down George St into Darling Harbour and with heaven's blessing, the day was warm and sunny, much unlike the previous week

Experience a ghostly side of Sydney

February 7th 2008 03:29
Sydney is known for her beach culture, the vibrant city life, the harbour bridge and opera house. However, would you be prepared to learn many of its darkest secrets?

As part of my learning to write about an iconic destination from a different point of view, I decided to join up a ghost tour around The Rocks. Now, you don't hear people talk about Sydney's ghosts too often

The Museum of Sydney

February 3rd 2008 21:01
It's odd for someone to visit a museum about the city they live in. I did. And I thought it was great as there are many things I didn't know, or didn't know the details of about Sydney and now, I am quite glad I had taken the time to learn them. (As long as I can still remember next week it'd be even better!)

The Museum of Sydney is a relatively new museum in Sydney right near the Circular Quay on the corner of Phillip and Bridge Sts. Admission price was $10 for an adult but I think the exhibitions were well worth it

Marvel at our future artists

February 3rd 2008 01:21
The annual Art Express exhibition is on again. During January, you would've seen them behind polished windows of David Jones, and from today, they will be displayed at the Art Gallery of NSW (what an honour!), the College of Fine Arts at UNSW, and Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre in Gymea.

Art Express is an exhibition of works by talented young artists whom have just finished their HSC (the Higher School Certificate) last year, and have received high mentions for their final HSC art projects. Throughout the years, the quality of their works have been so high, that many people who only have just stumbled on the exhibition do not realise these are merely high school art
