Calling all Fashion Victims!
April 26th 2006 06:38
Here is something for the girls - and guys who have an artistic sensitive side to them. Fashionanarchy is launching Australian Victims of Fashion Week this Thursday night - and before you think "spoiled, stupid little stick figures with poofy lips" in the immortal words of fashion designer Edna Mode from The Incredibles, think again.
Fashionanarchy is a performative showcase of local designers; this is not just skinny girls walking down a catwalk. This is a show. Expect the unexpected, and maybe leave the little cocktail dress at home. The string quartet themselves will be wearing nothing but their lingerie (well, maybe this is for the guys too).
I think I need to emphasises, this is fringe fashion. Check out this little number right here. Gallery Serpentine will be lending their period costumes, such as this one, to the catwalk. It may be a little bit dark, a little bit scary, but hey, entry is free, exit is by donation, and it is for a good cause! Proceeds go to Oxfam Australia and International Women's Development Agency.
So leave your inhibitions behind, and head down to The Fromagerie, Old Flour Mill Studios, B23 Gladstone St, Newtown. Doors open 7.30pm, and it promises to be a spectacle.
