Jump 2 Light Speed @ Sandringham

April 20th 2006 06:52

I wanna be that guy!
Tonight, this could be you.

Ben Ely, one third of the indie rock group Regurgitator (who sang Polyester Girl, My Ego, My Friend Robot, and lots of other stuff I can't think of) will be unveiling his new band, Jump 2 Light Speed at the Sandringham Hotel.

Not only is this the perfect opportunity to "I saw someone semi-famous", but then when the band takes off, you can then say, "I saw them before they were famous." And with $8 tickets, really, what reason is there NOT to go?

OK, so the band is a little green, and I cannot at the moment tell you anything whatsoever about what kind of a sound they have... But think of it as an audio adventure - you never know what will be around the corner.

So head down to the Sandringham tonight, 8pm, and ask Ben Ely something I've always wondered - what it was like meeting Marilyn Manson?

On King St, Newtown as you walk towards St Peters from Newtown Railway Station. Cosy little room for gigs that one.

Cheers Glen, couldn't have given better directions myself..! It is a little less known than the other pubs on King St as it happens to be on the haunted end... Does anyone feel a constant need to look over their shoulder when they're walking down that end of the street?

Maybe it's because I've never had any trouble in Newtown, but I think that end has more character. I lived in St Peters for a while and we'd hang out down that end more than the northern end. Punx Picnics at Sydney Park on the end of King St were always highlights.

I like that part of King st... everything's a little cheaper, a little seedier - but it feels more like a neighborhood, rather than a Lonely Planet destination, like the popular part of King st.

yes, well, we're two different demographics, I guess... when I'm on that part of King st, women look nervously over their shoulders at me!

Maybe I should carry a teddy bear with me, or something...!
