Kayak around the harbour
January 8th 2008 22:22
Sydney summer is all for outdoors, the beaches are always packed and parks are always full of people with fat and juicy steaks on their BBQ and a plastic cricket set for the inter-family series.
Just for something different, why not hire a kayak and paddle around the harbour?
Kayaking is fun, and is a good way to get fit. You can take it slow, drift among the shores and taking your time to soak in the beauty of the harbour, or you can race your friends!
For the easiest and one of the most beautiful location, head over to Manly and hire a kayak from Manly Kayaks.
You can choose to hire a kayak for the day, or to get a bit of tuition first from one of their qualified trainers before you set off into the wide sea. Even better, the kayak rental is from only $15 an hour, and their office is a 2 min walk from the ferry terminal.
Another wonderful location for kayaking is with Sydney Harbour Kayaks at The Spit bridge in Mosman. This area is a closed harbour and therefore less windy and rough. These guys even offer Kayak ecotours, as well as a Balmoral coffee tour for those interested. Otherwise, rent a kayak from $20 an hour and enjoy this part of the harbour on your own.
Get outdoors, get fit and have fun!

Katyzzz - it's actually quite relaxing and when the sea is calm, not hard at all!
