Celebrating NYE in Sydney
December 28th 2007 01:24
As usual, everyone is claiming that this year's new year's fireworks will be the biggest ever.
Sydney has always been known to put on a great show on new years eve and this year is not going to be different. A grand fireworks display has been planned and hopefully will not disappoint.
They are trying 'artistic' this year, with the theme of the 'Times of our Lives' and the celebration can be viewed from many vantage points around the harbour.
My favourite throughout the years has been Blue Point in North Sydney. Strategically situated facing the Harbour bridge, it is a great place to awe at the giant umbrellas of fire sparks that keep 1.2 million of people entertained each year.
There will be a firework display at 9pm for the families with little kiddies, and then, the count down new year fireworks at 12am on 1st January 2008.
Make sure you tune into FM104.1 for the live music broadcast of the music that synchronises with the fireworks!
Plan your travels for that day as many city roads will be closed for cars. Public transport is always the go and having been to the fireworks in Melbourne and got stuck trying to get back to our hotels, I must say Sydney's after event organisation is still pretty good. Most vantage points will be near a train station and you can purchase your tickets ahead of time to save you time.

I must say for this year I might have a quiet one up in Lake Macquarie. We had been invited by family and it sort of is hard to get out of that.

Yingna - Blues Point is just off North Sydney near Luna Park. You get out of North Sydney train station (or Milsons Point) and follow Blues Point road down to the very end until you hit the waters. You'll know when you get there!
